Here we are at one of the most awaited moments of the Paris Fashion Week. The moment when the whole essence of fashion and the world that revolves around it expresses itself in one only show: Valentino’s fashion show, that presented its new 2017-18 Autumn Winter collection (by Pierpaolo Piccioli) in the saloons of the wonderful Hotel Salomon de Rothschild, among golden stuccos, tapestry and flourishing winter gardens.

The collection was incredibly feminine but never lost track of its elegance and even austerity, a bit aristocratic and intriguing, exactly like those ladies who used to live in these amazing rooms. Of course this doesn’t mean that the collection left no room for eccentricity and experimentation: actually, that’s exactly what produced the magic.

The collection moves from theme to theme, from age to age, from tone to tone with a delicacy and fantasy that definitely deserved the standing ovation it got.  The bright and even acid colors were alternated to pastel colors (lilac, pink, aqua green) and to sudden touches of darkness. And at the same time the past was alternated to the future.

The belle époque style here gets mixed with pure design, with pop lightness, and with flowery or geometric patterns executed by the artist Nathalie Du Pasquier, member of the famous design society Memphis, that collaborated with the brand for the collection.  Romanticism and mathematic, priest dresses and patchwork furs, Victorian patterns, dresses decorated with panels, super womanly boots alternated to reinterpreted heavy-duty boots. .

And of course, red Valentino, that on this occasion presented a touch of coral, similar to the colors of the beautiful jewels inspired by Piero della Francesca and designed by Alessandro Gaggio. Many clapped for a coat in cache-mire with rigid collar and decorated with the application of numbers, hands and many other super-colorful graphic images.

Moreover, on the catwalk there was a coat in leather-made macramè lace, paired with a tassel laced skirt and a classic white silk shirt. The gotha of fashion has been here. The parterre was full of actresses, influencers and international VIPs. Among my favorite ones:  Anna Dello Russo, creative counsellor for Vogue Japan and one of the most popular character of the fashion system (it is enough to to pronounce her initials – ADR – to excite fashion addicted all over the world).

Aimee Song, beautiful and great fashion blogger from California, absolute authority also as regards interior design (her blog Song of Style is one of my favorite).

The model and fashion icon Olivia Palermo, the only one who can please any stylist in the world thanks to her simple and yet glamorous style.
