A retrò story, for those who love happy endings: Salvatore Ferragamo was a young talented man who loved footwear. When che was sixteen he moved to the Usa to reach one of his brothers who was working in a shoes fabric. Few years later, he opened his own store in Hollywood and the stars of silent films started acquiring from him. The shop was called Hollywood Boot Shop and it kept making shoes for celebrities until 1927. After that, Ferragamo, “the stars’s shoemaker”, became one of the greatest innovators of woman shoes worldwide. Sofia Loren, Marilyn Monroe, Joan Crawford, Gloria Swanson, Audrey Hepburn were some of his loving clients. Nowadays, his wonderful story, other than being told through an exhibition (until the 10th of May at the Ferragamo museum in Florence), inspired an incredible and exclusive capsule collection: Ferragamo’s Creations, a line that gives new life to the historical shoes produced by the founder. Oh yes: the amazing shoes of silent films, the most iconic creation of the 20th Century, are back among us. All of the most notorious brand’s models (including some of the most representative shoes) were closely reproduced. Same shapes, same colors, same materials, but with a noticeable contemporary twist, that has always characterized the maison. Ankle straps, asymmetrical bows, double lace on the foot instep, tin-strap and heels from 8 to 10,5 cm for womanly models. Each piece is accompanied by an autenticità certificate that tells its story and by a precious and unique packaging. And then, we have her, Rainbow Future, presented in a limited edition of 100 pieces: wedges in real wood, hand decorated and hand made in knitted organic cotton. Glamorous and totally ecologic.
