It has been by now two years since plastic-made flip-flops, until then completely unknown, appeared for the first time on high-fashion catwalks. And since then, something has changed. Slipper, sabot, thongs, either made of rubber, full of applications, with fur, pop, or super minimal… Gucci or Adidas: the range of choice has literally doubled. Flip-flops, that until a second before used to be considered a vintage piece from the 80’s or simply a bathroom or pool accesory, turned into a fashionable must-have.

They are probably the coolest accessory from last year. This trend is actually pretty interesting, it is sufficient to let designers inspire us and try and find the best models.

Here’s some of them: Prada goes full 70’s and experiences the magic of virating colours: try them with neutral colurs for a chic and original contrast effect. Moreover, don’t miss the super-cool flip-flops by Miu Miu, completely covered in soft pink faux leather and decorated with big white pearls, simply incredible.

“Fenty by Rihana” is the model you need for a pool party or nights on the beach: sporty glam slippers in marshmallow pink designed by Rihanna for Puma. An absolute must-have. If you’re ready to match chopine and tailleur, one of your guides should be Chloé: check out for example these two amazing models, sandals Nolan with a ribbon in light pink or red Valentino velvet (to be worn with maxi skirts or maxi silk pants)and the Kerenn version with cork sole and a shearling beige strip, perfect for a post-party summer look, with denim and a trendy-bohémien outifit.

Marc Jacob chooses to mix purple and multicolour for his flip-flops in rubber and fabric (they are already super popular: i suggest that you pair them with jeans, with a gauze maxi skirt or with leggins and also try them with mint green for an interesting match).

Del Rio London completely reinvents minorchine in a reinbow version: this colourful mix of snake leather and soft racoon fur is already a trend. Finally these slippers by Valentino with Camustars pattern, really wonderful and to be worn under denim shorts or maxi silk shirts. Now it’s up to you: go mad with your parings.
