Spring officially begins at the end of March, but high fashion is already looking ahead! All the new Spring-summer 2017 trends are already being revealed from the backstage of all the shows that are sparkling in the main fashion cities. Of course, we’ll talk about it again, and again and again, but for now I have just one word for you: tapestry.

Tapestry will be the must-have for next season: precious, tactile, romantic, exotic and glamorous. From now on, get ready for brocade and embroidery, get ready for dresses that look like baroque tapestry, for flowery and art deco inspired patterns, for the chinoiserie look, for luxurious and elegant satin, for silk and inlay work.

Of course, it’ll take time before you can acquire the clothes that are being presented during fashion weeks, therefore, for now, here’s just some tips to get in the mood.

Let’s start with this mini-skirt by Moschino in flowery-patterned brocade: just perfect! Even a more sober one could go, like this very chic folded knee-length skirt by Blumarine, in green cachemire-patterned brocade. .

Moreover, these sandals by Prada are just wonderful, thanks to their geometric heel and their tea-in-the-desert look. My suggestion is to play with the tapestry look, for example with this beautiful ring by Roberto Cavalli, with a phone case or, why not?, with a cute kitchen apron, if you enjoy being fashionable even while cooking.

During next season maxi bags will be very big: here’s for example a very fashionable and romantic flowery-patterned bag inspired by English tapestry.

Something similar could be this irresistible strappy short dress in the new Zara’s collection. And again, Zara offers this other pink-laced short dress (very glamorous if matched with a black t-shirt).

Mango had a great idea too, mixing bell-bottomed sleeves and skirt with a pattern inspired by Chinese porcelain. Next springs, the notorious Dolce&Gabbana’s little flowers will be back (great on this top). And finally, since we mostly saw flat shoes on the first catwalks (like platform sandals or flip-flops in coloured nappa leather), here’s a nice pair of loafers, with a rounded leather-made point, tassels and – of course – flowery pattern.

In conclusion, next summer be daring, don’t underestimate the power of wallpaper (even in furniture) and fall in love with embroidery and brocade. Stay tapestry!
